Rise and shine, it’s time to get up and get going! It’s officially summer time, and warmer weather and humidity are on the way, which can play havoc with your skin.
At KOHA, we know the summer can be full-on. You most likely have holidays booked, days out to plan and festivals to enjoy, all whilst juggling your work schedule and family lives – who’s got time for an in-depth skincare regime too? But with the changing of the seasons comes a need to change up your skincare regime, and stick to it. Whilst you have a busy schedule and lots going on, sticking to a tried-and-trusted consistent skincare regime will keep your skin healthy and happy all summer long.
To help make it super simple, we’ve pulled together an easy-breezy skincare regime that can be used AM and PM, and best of all, it takes just 10 minutes. Just follow our four steps to a glowing, healthy complexion…
Step One: Cleanse
It’s important to start every day with a clean canvas, but particularly so in the summer, when you’re more likely to be sweating during the night (we know, not the nicest image, but it’s true!) and potentially causing blocked pores and congestion.
A simple cleanse will get rid of any impurities and rinse away last night’s skincare, grease and grime, helping to prevent blemishes and eradicate oil, dirt and dead skin cells.
We recommend gently cleansing with our Green Clay, Dead Sea Mud & Eucalyptus soap, to freshen up your face whilst nourishing and moisturising. Splash your face with water and then gently massage the bar into your skin. Loosen the product and create a silky lather on the skin that you can work over the surface, but don’t rinse off just yet…
Step Two: Exfoliate
Exfoliating will get rid of any dry skin before you tone and moisturise, sweeping away dead skin cells to leave you with a smooth and glowing complexion. But skip a gritty physical scrub; sunshine can make skin feel sensitive, so go gentle with a konjac sponge instead – it’s the perfect way to exfoliate delicate skin. Plus, it’s eco-friendly and compostable, what more could you want? Grab your KOHA Beauty konjac sponge to finalise the cleansing process; simply soak in warm water for 2 minutes and then buff into your skin, to remove debris, makeup and skincare in one swoop. If you have sensitive skin, use our Pure White sponge, whilst oily or spot-prone complexions will feel the benefit of our Bamboo Charcoal-infused konjac sponge, which deeply purifies congested areas. Our top tip: you can use your konjac sponge without cleanser too, for a quick cleanse.
Step Three: Tone
Toner rebalances your complexion, removing excess oil and keeping acne at bay. But skip the plastic-bottled, chemical-filled versions and try something a little more natural instead. We love Lush’s Tea Tree Toner Tab; tea tree is well-known for its powers of purification, whilst Aloe Vera heals and moisturises skin simultaneously.
Simply drop the tab into a bowl of water that’s hot to the touch (avoid contact with the skin). Then place a small towel over your head, and hover over the bowl, allowing the steam to soak into the pores, and breathing in deeply. Just don’t put your face too close to the bowl! Once the tab stops fizzing in the water, the treatment is complete, so you can gently pat your face dry and enjoy refreshed, rejuvenated skin.
Step Four: Moisturise
Finally, moisturiser – the wakeup call your skin needs. Moisturiser helps to keep skin soft and hydrated, locking in moisture and acting as a base for your makeup and sun protection to sit on. If your skin is feeling tired and looking dull, we’d recommend The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser to give you a radiant, wide-awake glow. Vitamin C and Aloe Vera work together to heal, replenish and protect the skin from damage, plus this moisturiser’s light gel texture won’t feel too heavy on your skin. Simply apply a £2-sized dollop with clean fingertips, massaging into face and neck in circular motions.
Finally, remember your SPF! Sun protection is a must every day of the year, even on cloudy ones, and we recommend using a minimum of SPF50. Once your morning skincare regime is complete, apply your SPF of choice liberally and remember to top up during the day if you can – sunscreen is essential to healthy skin, after all.
