How to put your Christmas holidays to good use
If you, like many of us, are lucky enough to have some extended time off during the festive season, don’t be tempted to make it all about productivity. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is allow yourself time to relax. Intrigued? Allow us to elaborate…It’s all too easy for our minds and bodies to feel worn out, after several weeks of rushing around, being in non-stop work mode, trying to make sure everything is done and perfect for the festive season – so that, ironically, you can switch off. It’s so important to just take time to stop and relax, take in your surroundings and treat yourself to some me-time. Here’s a few of our favourite ways to indulge over the festive period, to ensure you’re firing on all cylinders again come January.
Take a bath
There are so many benefits of having a bath – decreasing stress, relieving muscle pain, helping you to breathe clearer and easier, cleansing and moisturising the skin, and even improving your hear health. Whilst you’re relaxing in the tub, moisturise and exfoliate your skin with the KOHA Beauty lemon, poppy seed and turmeric soap bar, which offers a refreshing, mildly cleansing experience for all skin types. Turmeric contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components, to not only help to protect and soothe your skin but aid in bringing out its natural glow. The poppy seeds offer a non-abrasive exfoliation which gives the skin a thorough cleansing without stripping the skin from its natural oils. Lemongrass and May Chang essential oils give this soap a sweet lemony scent.
Take time to read a book
Taking time out of your day to read a book will help to reduce your stress levels by 68%. Reading also helps to improve focus and concentration, improving your memory, but it can also help you to sleep easier and deeper. But, if reading is not your thing, try doing some guided meditation for a similar effect. Guided meditation helps reduce stress, it helps to focus on the present, it increases self-awareness and it increases patience too – perfect if you’re feeling frazzled! For either of these activities, light a soothing candle in the background; the KOHA Beauty lavender herb coconut & soy wax candle is wonderfully relaxing.
Complete a proper skincare routine
Looking after your skin properly is so important, for many reasons. It not only cleanses and cares for your skin of course, it also helps with reducing stress and helping to clarify your mind too. The Koha Beauty bamboo charcoal konjac sponge is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. The naturally occurring antioxidants help fights acne-causing bacteria meaning it’s a go to skincare products.
Look after your hair
Good haircare plays an important role in having healthy hair – plus, looking after it is an act of self-care too. The KOHA Beauty shampoo and conditioner bars are free of parabens, formaldehyde and any animal by-products, meaning that your hair is being really well cared-for too. Plus, it’s a great alternative to bottled shampoo and conditioner, with eco-friendly packaging, and none of the nasties you’d find in traditional high-street formulas. Take some time to properly care for your hair with these gentle, shine-enhancing formulas.
Enjoy a proper dental routine
Taking care of your mouth, teeth and gums is really important. Good oral hygiene can prevent bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease, and it’s another quick and easy way to take care of yourself during the downtime. Especially important if you’re snacking on all those sweet treats! Our KOHA Beauty bamboo toothbrush is a great alternative to a plastic toothbrush – eco-friendly, and gets the job done.
Remember self care is not selfish!
